Application of Speech & Sound Optimization Techniques for Real-World Scenarios

Objectives

This project will assess techniques to produce and improve generated speech and sound with respect to comprehensibility and cognitive effort on the receiver side, primarily in the AAC domain in scenarios such as household, outdoor environment, classroom. It will go on to adapt and integrate the most promising techniques accordingly and evaluate them with respect to their performance.

The ESR will receive extensive training with a unique blend of academic and industrial skills, and will be put on the road towards a PhD.

The project will be supervised by Dr. Ralf Biedert, and will be carried out in collaboration with Prof. Simon King from the University of Edinburgh and additional involvement from other partnering universities and labs.
